Awareness programme for a life-sciences research environment

Designed a research-environment-specific awareness programme covering grant-fraud lures, supply-chain compromise scenarios, and lab-notebook integrity threats.

Sector. Life sciences, R&D-led, ~1,200 staff

Engagement. Project engagement plus annual delivery

Duration. Six-month design phase, ongoing annual programme

The client is a life-sciences research organisation whose threat picture is genuinely different from a typical enterprise. The most-impactful lures their staff faced were grant-fraud campaigns from operators impersonating funding bodies, and supply-chain compromise scenarios targeting laboratory consumables procurement.

Standard awareness content treats these as edge cases at best. We built a custom curriculum covering the grant-fraud lure family, the supply-chain compromise scenarios, and a previously-undocumented set of lab-notebook integrity threats specific to the client's regulatory environment.

The programme delivered four custom modules, a quarterly simulation cycle adapted to research-environment workflows, and a tabletop component for the senior research-integrity committee.

Reporting-rate after the programme's first year is at sector benchmark — meaningfully higher than the client's pre-programme baseline.

Outcome

Custom research-environment curriculum live; reporting-rate at sector benchmark within one year; ongoing annual programme.
